Every year here at Thomas the Baker we choose a different charity to support. In the past, these charities have included Marie Curie, Macmillan, Yorkshire Air Ambulance and more – you can find out more about each of these here. We work with charities in a vast range of ways, from fundraising events such as sponsored walks, food donations to local events and we’re more than happy to consider individual sponsorship requests too. For 2017/18, our chosen charity is Alzheimer’s Society, the UK’s leading dementia charity. During this time, our 34 stores across Yorkshire and the North East will be collecting donations and members of staff across the whole business will be participating in events such as a local Memory Walk – you can find one close to you here if you’re interested in taking part too. Here’s a quick sneak peek at some of our new Christmas cupcakes featuring Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer and Snowmen! Hand decorated in our craft bakery, these will be available in our shops as of tomorrow, just in time for Christmas. What do you think of them? Cute, aren’t they?! As a reminder, we still have a lovely range of Christmas products and hampers, perfect for last minute Christmas presents, available in our online shop.   Last week was National Cupcake Week, so I decided we just had to share some information on our cupcakes over at Thomas the Baker. As you can see in the pictures, all of our cupcakes are hand piped and decorated. What you might not realise is that they are even hand piped by a Thomas family member herself – the young lady in the photos is my younger sister, Beth, who is currently working full time in ‘Confec’, as it is colloquially known in the bakery. One of her everyday tasks is to load up a piping bag full with delectable butter icing and use a steady hand to form the perfect swirls. The range of cupcakes is constantly evolving, with new designs being thought up all the time by our development team, including a celebrity chef (more on that at a later date though!).
