Thomas the Baker always has been a family business at heart: not only was Sally swept off her feet by her husband-to-be shortly after starting to work there right at the beginning, she also fondly remembers him as being an outstanding, slightly older pupil at the school they both attended. Good Yorkshire stock, Sally's family are 'locals', and you can't help bumping into an Aunt and Uncle, or a cousin, or a second cousin, or a third or fourth removed cousin, when you are out and about in Ryedale. If they are not the currently presiding over the local Agricultural show, then they are likely to have won prizes for their livestock, flowers or, worryingly for Simon, 1st prize for their Victoria Sponge Cakes.
Sally is a 'planner', so whether it's organizing cats and dogs to the vet, coordinating a family get together or the best route around Europe on a summer driving holiday, it's all set out and written down in great detail in advance. The family has learnt that it is better not to try to alter arrangements at short notice, Sally isn't keen on surprises!
